Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where book bloggers are invited to share their top ten lists centered on a certain theme.

This week’s theme is ‘Books or Covers that Feel/Look Like Summer’ and I was so excited for this prompt! Summer is my favorite season and I love books set in the summer. Today I’m sharing 5 summer books I love, and 5 that are on my TBR!

My Top ten

First, here’s 5 summer books that I love:

  1. Chloe and the Kaishao Boys by Mae Coyiuto: This YA romance set in the Philippines was so fun and is perfect for fans of Meredith Ireland or Gloria Chao!
  2. Summer of Bitter and Sweet by Jen Ferguson: I listened to this YA contemporary about a Métis girl last year and enjoyed it so much.
  3. Summer Bird Blue by Akemi Dawn Bowman: Akemi is one of my absolute favorite authors, and I adore this novel about sisterhood, grief and identity.
  4. Cool for the Summer by Dahlia Adler: This sapphic YA romance starring two Jewish teens is one that I am constantly recommending at my library!
  5. Rise to the Sun by Leah Johnson: Set at a summer music festival, this book has the perfect balance of sweet queer romance with a thoughtful exploration of grief.

And here’s 5 summery books on my TBR!

  1. No Boy Summer by Amy Spalding: I’ve loved Amy’s previous books and am so excited for another summery queer YA romance from her!
  2. What She Missed by Liara Tamani: This one is set in a small lake town, which is the perfect atmospheric setting for a summer read. Plus, the cover is gorgeous!
  3. Good as Gold by Candace Buford: I loved Candace’s previous book, Kneel, and love the sounds of this YA mystery about sunken treasure!
  4. The Secret Summer Promise by Keah Brown: Keah is the creator of the hashtag #DisabledAndCute and is basically the coolest! As soon as I heard she was writing a queer YA romance, I knew I had to add it to my TBR.
  5. Warrior Girl Unearthed by Angeline Boulley: Romances may dominate summer, but I also love a good mystery/thriller during the summer! I’ve heard great things about Angeline’s work and am hoping to pick this one up soon.

What are some of your favorite summer books?

Happy reading! (1)
