“It’s Monday! What are you reading?” is a weekly meme hosted by Book Date. The folks at Teacher Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers have given #IMWAYR a new lens by focusing on books for kids & teens. Check out their blogs to see what they’re reading!
- Throw Like a Girl by Sarah Henning
- Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren
- Queen of Nothing (Folk of the Air #3) by Holly Black
Both of these romances were super different and so cute! Ever since reading Cold Day in the Sun by Sara Biren earlier this year, I’ve been really enjoying sports romances, so Throw Like a Girl was perfect for that! And Love and Other Words just might be my new favorite Christina Lauren book.
Plus, can I just say how proud of myself I am that I actually finished a fantasy series? Fantasy is really hard for me to get into, and I can’t believe that I listened to the entire Folk of the Air trilogy!
- We Used to Be Friends by Amy Spalding
- The Grace Year by Kim Liggett
- Contagion (Contagion #1) by Erin Bowman
I’m reading We Used to Be Friends and listening to the other two in audiobook format. I’m really enjoying all three, even though The Grace Year is pretty horrifying. My partner and I are listening to Contagion together (we commute together so we have lots of audiobook time in the car together) and we’re both super hooked!
What are you reading this week?

Oh I loved The Grace Year! I gave it 5 stars
I so enjoyed Love and Other Words as well. The other books you listed look interesting! Have a great week of reading.
I love that you are your hubby commute together and share reading that way!
Wishing you a great reading week
Oooo The Grace Year is on my list but I’m not sure if I’ll get around to it! I’m glad you’re enjoying though.
Congrats on finishing a fantasy series. I’ve only read the first of that series so far. Throw Like a Girl does look cute. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
Love reading your blog and getting ideas for my own kids (and me)! Thanks.
I haven’t read any of the Holly Black series, so will look for those, Ari. Thanks!
I’m both looking forward to and terrified of reading The Grace Year. I’d also like to read Contagion, at some point. Have a great week!
I’m terrible at finishing series, I always seem to get bored and distracted and never seem to finish anything longer than a duology, even a trilogy can be tough for me to stick with! Short attention span problems here. 😉
I’m a sucker for women in football stories, which is strange because I’m not really interested in the sport itself.
I don’t read a ton of fantasy, either. But I really, really enjoyed the Folk of the Air series. I stayed up all night reading The Queen of Nothing (and I have five children, so this is a highly unusual experience for me – lol). I have Contagion on my TBR list, so now you have my really looking forward to it. Thanks for the shares, Ari!
