TBR Highs & Lows is a meme hosted by Destiny at Howling Libraries(one of my favorite book blogs!), where bloggers feature the books at the bottom of their TBRs (the “lows”) and highlight new additions to the list (the “highs”). Visit Howling Libraries for more info if you’re interested in participating!
Here’s some of the books at the bottom of my TBR (but that I still want to read!):
Under a Painted Sky by Stacey Lee
A historical YA novel about two teen girls of color disguising themselves as boys as they travel along the Oregon Trail. Historical fiction is a genre that I’d love to start reading more of!
I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman
I’ve heard such great things about Alice Oseman but just haven’t gotten to any of her work yet.
Summer of Salt by Katrina Leno
It’s queer and it’s magical and has a stunning cover and that’s all I need to know.
Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills
Queer rep, theater, and boy bands. Emma Mills has a new book out soon that I’m hoping to read, too!
Paper Things by Jennifer Richard Jacobson
This middle grade novel is about homelessness and family and will probably make me cry a lot.
Here’s what I’ve added to my TBR recently:
Match Me If You Can by Tiana Smith
Release date: January 8, 2019
I have an ARC of this YA contemporary about a teen matchmaker, and I’m hoping to get started on it soon. I’ve loved every Swoon Reads title I’ve read, and I’m sure this one will be no exception!
Roam by C. H. Armstrong
Release date: February 5, 2019
A YA novel about a family experiencing homelessness. Seventeen year old Abby has gone from having a normal life to not knowing where her next meal will come from or where her family will sleep tonight.
Forward Me Back to You by Mitali Perkins
Release date: April 2, 2019
Mitali Perkins was a new-to-me author this year, and I’m so glad I had the chance to read one of her books & meet her when she visited my library! I’m looking forward to her newest release.
Summer of a Thousand Pies by Margaret Dilloway
Release date: April 16, 2019
This middle grade novel about a girl trying to help her aunt save her failing pie shop sounds super adorable.
Hope and Other Punchlines by Julie Buxbaum
Release date: May 7, 2019
Abbi is a teen who became internet famous because of a picture taken of her as a baby in front of the World Trade Center on 9/11. I’ve yet to read anything by Julie, but have had her books recommended to me a lot!
What have you added to your TBR recently?
Ahhhhh, you have to read FOOLISH HEARTS! One of my favorite contemporaries 🙂
UNDER A PAINTED SKY and MATCH ME IF YOU CAN are two on my reading list too!
