TBR Highs & Lows is a meme hosted by Destiny at Howling Libraries(one of my favorite book blogs!), where bloggers feature the books at the bottom of their TBRs (the “lows”) and highlight new additions to the list (the “highs”). Visit Howling Libraries for more info if you’re interested in participating!

Here’s some of the books at the bottom of my TBR (but that I still want to read!):

Want by Cindy Pon
YASSS to more POC rep in science fiction.

If Birds Fly Back by Carlie Sorosiak
A romance kindles between a girl seeking answers about her missing sister and a boy seeking his birth father. I’ve only heard of this one recently but it has positive reviews.

Ghost by Jason Reynolds
This is obviously on my list because it’s by Jason Reynolds and I need no other reason.

The Bone Sparrow by Zana Fraillon
A middle grade novel about a refugee, imagination, and friendship.

The Girl From Everywhere by Heidi Heilig
A girl who lives aboard her father’s time-traveling ship. I love time travel stories and have heard great things about this one!

Here’s what I’ve added to my TBR recently:

The Music of What Happens by Bill Konisburg
Release Date: January 29, 2019
Honestly, I feel like I’ve been waiting my whole life for a queer summer food truck romance. (Did anyone else really wish that The Way You Make Me Feel had been f/f?)

Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me by Mariko Tamaki & Rosemary Valero O’Connell
Release Date: May 7, 2019
YES! Another queer graphic novel from Mariko Tamaki with a stunning cover.

Rules We’re Meant to Break by Natalie Williamson
Release Date: June 11, 2019
I love Swoon Reads, and this new novel about a girl trying not to meddle in her mom’s love life sounds hilarious.

The Arrival of Someday by Jen Malone
Release Date: July 23, 2019
A teen’s whole future becomes a big giant question mark when she finds out she needs an organ transplant.

Hello Girls by Brittany Cavallaro & Emily Henry
Release Date: August 6, 2019
Girls fighting through trauma and rage together is something we definitely need more YA books about.

What have you added to your TBR recently?

  1. You always have SO MANY good books on your list! Okay, so… full disclosure, the only Bill K book I’ve read was The Porcupine of Truth and I HATED IT. I thought it was absolutely horrible and gross and I think I gave it 1 star, which I almost never do? But beside that… I’m honestly soooo interested in his new book?! So I decided to tentatively add it to my TBR and wait until some reviews start rolling in for it. 😂

  2. Lovely post! Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me sounds amazing, and it’s so pretty 😍 I highkey wished The Way You Make Me Feel was f/f too, it would’ve been the cutest hate to love romance!
