That Thing We Call a Heart by Sheba Karim
This diverse novel deals with friendship and first love while touching on the Partition of India. All of Sheba’s books are on my TBR!

Geekerella by Ashley Poston
I’ve recently been really into books about nerd/fandom culture, and the fact that this one also involves a food truck makes me super excited to read it some day.

Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia
Shy, awkward Eliza is secretly the creator of a popular webcomic, but her life is turned upside down when her secret gets out. I love books about teens dealing with their online lives and real lives colliding.

This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada
A world where people have technology to change their DNA + girl hacker? This book sounds super cool and I hope I get a chance to try it out soon.

Top Ten by Katie Cotugno
Katie Cotugno’s books always sound so fun, and this one has bi rep, which I’m so here for.

The Love & Lies of Rukshana Ali by Sabina Khan
Release date: January 29, 2019
A YA contemporary about a queer Bengali Muslim teen dealing with homophobia, family, and her future? This is definitely going to be one of my most anticipated 2019 reads.

Watch Us Rise by Renée Watson, Ellen Hagan
Release date: February 12, 2019
I love feminist YA like Moxie or The Nowhere Girls, and I can’t wait for this novel about a group of girls starting a Women’s Rights Club at their school.

Internment by Samira Ahmed
Release date: March 19, 2019
Set in the near-future US, seventeen year-old Layla and her family are forced into an internment camp for Muslims. This will without a doubt be one of the most important books of 2019.

With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo
Release date: May 7, 2019
Elizabeth Acevedo’s debut, The Poet X, was incredible and I’m so excited for this YA contemporary about a teen mom with dreams of being a chef (that has a ridiculously stunning cover!).

A Match Made in Mehendi by Nandini Bajpai
Release date: November 5, 2019
Simi comes from a long line of Indian match-makers and makes her own match-making app service when she realizes it could improve her social status. This novel sounds so fun & I wish I didn’t have to wait a whole year for it!
