“It’s Monday! What are you reading?” is a weekly meme hosted by Book Date. The folks at Teacher Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers have given #IMWAYR a new lens by focusing on books for kids & teens. Check out their blogs to see what they’re reading!
WHAT I READ LAST WEEK
- Dealing in Dreams by Lilliam Rivera (review here!)
- Field Notes on Love by Jennifer E. Smith (review here!)
- Heroine by Mindy McGinnis
- The Moon Within by Aida Salazar
WHAT I’M READING THIS WEEK:
Small Town Hearts by Lillie Vale
I just started this sweet summer romance set in a touristy beach town in Maine. Sleepy beach towns are one of my favorite settings, and I’m already hooked on this one! The summer after high school is always so fun to read about, and Babe is a lovable main character dealing with change. I also love that she’s bi and that she loves to bake! I will read any romance with food in it.
I’m about 70 pages in and can’t wait to finish this one! It’s from Swoon Reads, and I pretty much always love their books. Look for Small Town Hearts on March 19!
A Good Kind of Trouble by Lisa More Ramee
This middle grade novel is about a 12 year old girl named Shayla who gets involved in the Black Lives Matter movement. I’m so excited to see a MG novel that talks about BLM and shows that kids can be involved and make a difference.
I’ve been waiting for this book and have been super excited to read it since meeting the author at a book convention a while ago. I hope to see this one on the shelves of public and school libraries all over. A Good Kind of Trouble is out tomorrow, so be sure to pick up a copy!
What are you reading this week?
Ahhh so excited to start seeing people’s thoughts on Heroine, that is one of my most anticipated reads for the year! What did you think?

I was about to ask the same thing. There is a full review on my blog if you want to check it out but I’m curious if anyone else saw it the way I did.
