It’s Monday! What are you reading? March 4, 2019

“It’s Monday! What are you reading?” is a weekly meme hosted by Book Date. The folks at Teacher Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers have given #IMWAYR a new lens by focusing on books for kids & teens. Check out their blogs to see what they’re reading!

WHAT I READ LAST WEEK

Last week was another busy one for me, so only two finished books to report! But things should be a little calmer this week, so I’m hoping to get through a few more.

WHAT I’M READING THIS WEEK:

35297488Dealing in Dreams by Lilliam Rivera

I loved Lilliam’s debut, The Education of Margot Sanchez, so Dealing in Dreams was definitely one of my most anticipated reads of 2019! I was ecstatic to get my hands on an ARC, and have been squeezing it into my busy schedule over the last couple of days. I have just 75 pages left and am hoping to finish it today!

This one is so different from Lilliam’s first novel, which was a YA contemporary. This one is more of a YA dystopian/speculative fiction, and really interesting! It took me a while to get into it, but now I’m obsessed and can’t wait to see how it ends! Look for Dealing in Dreams on March 5!

39875158Field Notes on Love by Jennifer E. Smith

This YA contemporary romance sounds SO CUTE and I cannot wait to start it as soon as I finish Dealing in Dreams! It sounds so light, fluffy, and adorable, making it the perfect follow up to more serious-themed books. I love that one of the main characters is mixed-race and is one of six sextuplets!

I’ve been in love with this cover for months and have been waiting to finally read this one. This will be my first read from Jennifer E. Smith, and I have a feeling I’m going to adore it. Look for Field Notes on Love on March 5!

26032825 (1)Cruel Prince by Holly Black

As I’ve mentioned before, I usually stick to contemporary YA and tend to have a hard time getting into fantasy. But, I’ve been trying to expand my horizons by listening to fantasy audiobooks, which makes it a lot easier for me to get into the story. The Cruel Prince has been recommended to me over and over again, and after being on the library’s holds list for months, it was finally my turn for the audiobook!

I just started it a couple days ago and am hoping to finish it as soon as possible (especially since all of my audiobook holds came in all at the same time, so I’ve got a whole bunch to get through!).
