It’s Monday! What are you reading? December 10, 2018

“It’s Monday! What are you reading?” is a weekly meme hosted by Book Date. The folks at Teacher Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers have given #IMWAYR a new lens by focusing on books for kids & teens. Check out their blogs to see what they’re reading!

WHAT I READ LAST WEEK

WHAT I’M EXCITED TO READ THIS WEEK:

41067042Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott, Mikki Daughtry, & Tobias Iaconis, audiobook narrated by Joy Osmanski & Corey Brill

Chances are that you’ve heard of this new release, since it has a movie adaptation coming out in just a few months! It’s about two teens with cystic fibrosis falling in love, even though they’ve got to stay a few feet away from each other or risk making each other sick.

This book isn’t something I’d normall read, but I decided to give it a try since the audiobook is really short. I just started it and I’m curious to see where it’ll go. I have to be honest and admit that I am not a huge fan of one of the narrators (which can really ruin an audiobook for me!) but I’m going to try to finish it anyway.

30340865Our Year of Maybe by Rachel Lynn Solomon

I definitely let out a huge gasp when I saw that I’d been approved for a eARC on Edelweiss of one of my most anticipated 2019 releases! I loved Rachel’s debut, You’ll Miss Me When I’m Gone, and have been eagerly awaiting more from her all year. I know that once I start this one, I won’t be able to stop.

Our Year of Maybe is about two best friends whose relationship gets complicated after an organ donation, and it’s got #OwnVoices Jewish rep, and bi rep. I also love that it’s about a pianist and a dancer, because Rachel is great at writing characters with huge passions.

What are you reading this week?

  1. Damsel and Slayer both look good to me. I didn’t realize Slayer was in the Buffy universe, just discovered that on another blog that was talking about it!
