TBR Highs & Lows is a meme hosted by Destiny at Howling Libraries(one of my favorite book blogs!), where bloggers feature the books at the bottom of their TBRs (the “lows”) and highlight new additions to the list (the “highs”). Visit Howling Libraries for more info if you’re interested in participating!
Here’s some of the books at the bottom of my TBR (but that I still want to read!):
Somewhere Among by Annie Donwerth-Chikamatsu
A middle grade novel in verse about an American-Japanese girl searching for identity and guidance in the wake of 9/11.
Us, in Progress: Short Stories About Young Latinos by Lulu Delacre
I was so excited to stumble upon this middle grade novel at work today, especially since my library is in a predominantly Latinx community. This is definitely one that I’ll be recommending to kids!
Hole in the Middle by Kendra Fortmeyer
A teen born with a hole in her middle becomes an accidental celebrity. I got an ARC of this but never got around to reading it, but it sounds like such an interesting story!
Here’s what I’ve added to my TBR recently:
Everything Grows by Aimee Herman
Release date: May 7, 2019
This coming-of-age novel about a queer teen coping with the death of her bully sounds right up my (very queer) alley!
The Wise and the Wicked by Rebecca Podos
Release date: May 28, 2019
The universe has answered my wishes for more queer witches, and to make it even better, it’s from the author of Like Water.
Brave Face by Shaun David Hutchinson
Release date: August 20, 2019
A memoir from one of my absolute favorite YA authors? I will definitely be pre-ordering this one!
I normally feature 5 highs & 5 lows, but this week I decided to just try out doing 3 of each. Do you like it better with 5 of each or no preference?
