It’s Monday! What are you reading? October 22, 2018

“It’s Monday! What are you reading?” is a weekly meme hosted by Book Date. The folks at Teacher Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers have given #IMWAYR a new lens by focusing on books for kids & teens. Check out their blogs to see what they’re reading!

I use #IMWAYR mostly to organize my reading list for the week and set out my book goals.

WHAT I READ LAST WEEK:

It was a fun reading week because I stepped outside my comfort zone and actually read something that wasn’t YA or MG. The Kiss Quotient was very different from what I normally read, but it was nice to take a break and try something new!

WHAT I’M EXCITED TO READ THIS WEEK:

36952596Blanca y Roja by Anna-Marie McLemore

Blanca y Roja is a queer, Latinx retelling of Snow White & Rose Red mixed with Swan Lake. It’s dark, twisty, and beautiful, like many of Anna-Marie McLemore’s previous novels. She’s an author I never expected to love, because her work is so different from what I’m usually drawn to, but after reading Wild Beauty I’m pretty sure I’ll read anything she writes from now on.

I just started this one and am excited to see where it goes!

25785993Giant Days, Vol. 1 by John Allison, Lissa Treiman, & Whitney Cogar

I’m always looking for more graphic novels to read, and this is one out of a big stack I checked out from my library last week. I’ve heard great things about Giant Days and am really looking forward to starting the series.

This week is going to be super busy, since my library is in the process of transitioning into our new building (which involves unpacking thousands of boxes and literally wearing a hard hat to work since the building is still an active construction site!), so I know I won’t have much time to read. But I’m hoping to at least get through some graphic novels this week!

What are you reading this week?

  1. Nice variety of books. I don’t read as much YA as I used to since I’ve retired but these look good. Come see my week here. Happy reading!
