Note: I am an affiliate of Bookshop.org and will receive a small commission if you choose to purchase via the links in this post. This is a way to support indie bookstores & the work I put into this blog! It’s appreciated, but never expected.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where book bloggers are invited to share their top ten lists centered on a certain theme.

Last week I shared some queer YA books, and I wanted to share some more queer books for Pride Month! So this week I’m sharing my top 10 queer graphic novels.

My Top ten

1. The Magic Fish by Trung Le Nguyen: This is such a beautiful graphic novel about a mother & son, queerness, and fairytales. It totally made me cry!

2. Messy Roots by Laura Gao: Absolutely adored this graphic memoir by a Wuhanese American author! Laura explores her childhood, being Asian in America, being queer, and how COVID-19 impacted her communities.

3. Life of Melody by Mari Costa: This is the most wholesome fantasy graphic novel about a fairy godparent and a beast co-parenting a child together! Such a sweet take on family.

4. The Girl from the Sea by Molly Ostertag: If you’ve read this and didn’t sob at the end, please tell me HOW?! Seriously, a beautiful love story between a human girl and a selkie that will melt your heart.

5. Mamo by Sas Milledge: I love anything queer & witchy, and the fact that this one has a Filipino protagonist makes it even better!

6. Cheer Up: Love and Pompoms by Crystal Frasier, Oscar O. Jupiter, & Val Wise: This was such a fun graphic novel starring a couple of queer cheerleaders! A must-read if you like other queer sports graphic novels like Check, Please!

7. Taproot by Keezy Young: A soft, sweet, quiet romance between a gardener and a ghost. A perfect read for sitting in a garden with a cup of tea.

8. Coming Back by Jessi Zabarsky: This one is atmospheric and tender, featuring a queer couple that must find their way back to each other.

9. Across a Field of Starlight by Blue Delliquanti: If you’re a fan of space operas, you should definitely try this one! It’s action-packed and fun, while also offering a world where gender is more fluid.

10. Project Nought by Chelsey Furedi: This sci-fi graphic novel with a queer romance has sooooo many twists! My advice is to go into this one without knowing too much so you can enjoy the surprises.

What are some of your favorite graphic novels?

Happy reading! (1)
