Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, where book bloggers are invited to share their top ten lists centered on a certain theme.
This week’s theme is cover redesigns! I love seeing books get makeovers, especially when the new cover is totally different from the original! Here’s 10 cover redesigns that I love.
1. Undead Girl Gang by Lily Anderson: I LOVED the original cover, but I was especially happy to see a gorgeous fat brown girl on the paperback cover!
2. The Beauty that Remains by Ashley Woodfolk: I love illustrated covers, and I was so excited to see that this one featured each of the main characters and showcased the music element of the book. While the original cover was pretty, this one truly captures the book!
3. American Panda by Gloria Chao: Both covers are super cute and capture Mei perfectly, but the colors in the new one are so gorgeous!
4. Anger is a Gift by Mark Oshiro: This is an example of small changes that made a big impact! I love that Moss gets to take up more space in this cover, and the new color scheme really makes the title pop!
5. Prince Charming by Rachel Hawkins: This YA romance got a major make-over with a new title and cover! The new title and the illustrated cover capture the book so much better.
6. A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard: The dark color and subtle illustration on the new cover capture the vibe of the story so well. Plus, I love that Rhys’s and Steffi’s hands are showcased on the cover, since their love story involves sign language!
7. Hold Still by Nina LaCour: Hold Still has had a few different covers, but this illustrated one is definitely my favorite! It’s the only cover that shows Caitlin and Ingrid together, instead of Caitlin alone.
8. Top Ten by Katie Cotugno: If you couldn’t tell already, I adore illustrated covers! This one’s been on my TBR for a long time, and this cover redesign makes me want to read it even more.
9. You Bring the Distant Near by Mitali Perkins: The style of the new cover is so cool, and I think will be so much more appealing to teen readers! Plus, I think it complements the cover style of Mitali’s newest release, Forward Me Back to You.
10. The Apocalypse of Elena Mendoza by Shaun David Hutchinson: The paperback cover fits this story so much better! The original cover was great too, but this one definitely captures the story and vibe in a new way.

Love your choices. I really love Sara’s because of the sign language. At first glance the original is the one that might draw you in but if you know about the story, the new one is the one that really represents it and is not just a pretty cover.

Great list! I haven’t heard of or read many of the ones you’ve listed but I do like almost all of the new covers more than the original/old ones!

GOSH, I am so freaking obsessed with that new print of Undead Girl Gang. I loved the book and the original cover, like you said, but the new one? DANG. I’m obsessed. It’s so gorgeous. The cover model? Swoon. The colours? YES, PLEASE. I’m just… ahh!!! I love the newest design for Hold Still. The illustration is so cute and colourful and fitting and AGAIN I’M SWOONING. (I think I’ve said swoon too many times but just in case I haven’t: swoon.)
