It’s Monday! What are you reading? October 15, 2018

“It’s Monday! What are you reading?” is a weekly meme hosted by Book Date. The folks at Teacher Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers have given #IMWAYR a new lens by focusing on books for kids & teens. Check out their blogs to see what they’re reading!

I use #IMWAYR mostly to organize my reading list for the week and set out my book goals.

WHAT I READ LAST WEEK:

WHAT I’M EXCITED TO READ THIS WEEK:

36341204What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera

It starts with a chance encounter at a post office involving men in matching rompers, a Bruno Mars flash mob, and a package that never gets mailed. Ben has just broken up with his boyfriend, and Arthur is lonely in NYC for a summer internship, and when the two meet, it sort of seems like destiny— until they get separated before they can exchange numbers. But, through somewhat stalker-level internet sleuthing, they just might find each other and maybe, sort of fall in love.

If you’re a YA reader, you’ve most likely heard of this new contemporary queer romance from two best-selling authors. I’ve just started it and am hoping to finish it this week.

22405660Wuvable Oaf by Ed Luce

A graphic novel that explores the queer community of SF, starring a giant ex-wrestler who loves cats? Honestly, why haven’t I read this already? If it wasn’t already obvious, cats are pretty much my favorite thing ever (I only feel a little embarrassed about fulfilling this librarian stereotype) and I will read pretty much anything involving them. But adding SF, queerness, and putting it in comic form pretty much guarantees that I’ll love it.

I’ve heard about this book several times over the last few years, but finally checked it out from my library after a friend recommended it.

  1. Bingo Love looks absolutely awesome. What If It’s Us has been on my radar and ordered it for my daughter for Christmas. Really looking forward to reading it with her.
